Rada Committee Decides Not To Include Term "Gender Identity" In Anti-Discrimination Norm Of Draft Labor Code Prepared For Second Reading
During the work on preparing the draft Labor Code for the second reading the Verkhovna Rada committee for social policy, employment and pension provision has not included the expression "gender identity" in the norm forbidding restriction of the working population's rights on grounds of sexual orientation and gender identity.
This is indicated by the comparative table drawn for bill No.1658, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
Verkhovna Rada First Deputy Chairperson Iryna Heraschenko said the Parliament would not support this wording of the draft Labor Code.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on November 5, 2015, the Verkhovna Rada passed in first reading the redraft Labor Code, which is part of the package of bills required for the EU visa liberalization.
However, the Verkhovna Rada has refused to adopt an amendment to the bill forbidding restriction of the working population's rights on grounds of sexual orientation and gender identity.
The Verkhovna Rada adopted the amendment to the effective Labor Code and committed to introduce this norm in the new wording of the Labor Code.
On March 15, 2017, the Rada committee prepared the draft Labor Code for the second reading.
