53 Companies Apply For Construction Of Solar Power Stations In Chornobyl Exclusion Zone

Fifty-three companies have applied for construction of solar power stations in the Chornobyl exclusion zone in Kyiv Region.

The State Agency for managing the exclusion zone told this to Ukrainian News Agency following an inquiry.

"As at March 17, 2017, 53 companies have sent in requests for land lots for construction and exploitation of solar power plants in the exclusion zone," reads the answer.

Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Ostap Semerak says the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is eyeing financing the construction of solar power stations.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources says that Chinese companies GCL System Integration Technology and China National Complete Engineering Corporation (CCEC) have sent in requests for land lots in the Chornobyl exclusion zone to build a 1GW solar power station.
