Naftogaz Still At Point To Resume Gas Purchases From Gazprom If Offers Fair Price And Delivery Terms
Naftogaz of Ukraine national joint-stock company is still at point to resume purchases of natural gas from Russia's gas monopoly Gazprom sobeit the RF company quotes a fair price and signs an addendum to the existing contract fixing payment and delivery terms and conditions.
Naftogaz Chief Executive Officer Andrii Kobolev said this in the Economists programme at 3s.tv, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
The valid 2009 contract is built so that Naftogaz first then buy any amount of gas from Gazprom has to pay at least USD 600 million in advance, i.e. to pay for the supply of round 3 billion cubic metres.
"For this very purpose, the last two winters we signed addendums enabling us to take the prepaid amount of gas. These addendums also adjusted the price and delivery terms," the CEO added.
The terms and conditions of supply of Russian gas to Ukraine this winter are to be discussed in trilateral (Ukraine - European Union - Russia) negotiations on December 9.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Naftogaz stopped buying gas from Gazprom on November 25, 2015.
