Co-Chairman Of Adviser Group Miklos: Reform Process In Ukraine Slow

Co-chairman of the group of international advisers, former vice prime minister, ex-economy and finance minister of Slovakia Ivan Miklos opines that the process of carrying out reforms in Ukraine is going slow.

He said this in an interview for Novoye Vremya magazine, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"The process of reforms is going slow, and it is too important that the Government and the Parliament in the next two years ahead of elections join their efforts and work more efficiently to prolong the credit of the population's trust until the moment the reforms bring their fruits," he said.

Miklos defines the tax and budget reform, education and healthcare reform and also the court reform as priority steps for the Government.

Privatisation of state property is an example of structural reform where no results have been achieved.

"This reform still lacks political will and those who organise such privatisations undergo systemic pressure," the co-chairman added.

The coming several months are decisive in relation to reforms in Ukraine.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, United States Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch thinks that Ukraine has implemented insufficient reforms in the last two year.
