USA Confirms Readiness To Provide Ukraine With USD 1 Billion In Loan Guarantees
The United States has confirmed its readiness to provide Ukraine with USD 1 billion in loan guarantees.
The press service of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko announced this in a statement following Poroshenko's meeting in New York with Vice-President of the United States Joseph Biden, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"President Poroshenko also emphasized on importance of the IMF decision on the third tranche and on his commitment to continue reforms. Vice-President Biden informed that the US are ready to provide Ukraine with a billion US dollars in loan guarantees, since Ukraine has fulfilled necessary conditions," reads the statement.
The statement reads that the interlocutors discussed the situation in Donbas and implementation of Minsk agreement. The sides agreed to intensify diplomatic efforts to end the Russian aggression against Ukraine.
Petro Poroshenko thanked the United States for strengthening sanctions against Russia.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Ukraine has started preparation for placing eurobonds for USD 1 billion against the state security of the United States.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on September 16, the International Monetary Fund delivered a tranche of USD 1 billion to Ukraine under the EFF (Extended Fund Facility) program.
Minister of Finance of Ukraine Oleksandr Danyliuk says Ukraine expects to receive USD 1 billion loan guarantees from the United States of America before the end of September.
