SSU operatives in Dnipro detain man who activated more than 1,000 Starlink terminals for enemy

The SSU detained a man in Dnipro who, acting on orders from the enemy, organized a large-scale scheme to illegally verify Starlink systems.

It was reported on the Security Service of Ukraine’s Telegram channel.

The investigation revealed that the suspect is a native of the Luhansk Region who came to the attention of russian intelligence officers through Telegram channels advertising “easy money.”

In exchange for money, the suspect used the credentials provided to him by a handler from russia and initially registered the Starlink station in his own name.

Subsequently, the suspect was instructed to involve as many people as possible in the clandestine verification of satellite equipment. To carry out this task, the man decided to activate the Starlink systems at postal service branches using the personal information of front men.

It has been established that, in this manner, the organizer of the criminal scheme verified over 1,000 satellite communication terminals for the russians. SSU officers exposed the man, documented his crimes, and detained him at his place of residence. During a search, a smartphone containing evidence of his activities on behalf of the enemy was seized from him.

In addition, the SSU blocked all Starlink stations that the perpetrator had illegally registered.

Currently, Security Service investigators have notified the suspect of charges under Part 1 of Article 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (aiding an aggressor state). The suspect faces up to 12 years in prison.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the SSU’s counterintelligence unit detained two men in Kyiv who were registering and activating Starlink satellite terminals for russian troops.

Our agency also reported that the russian army did not purchase Starlink terminals directly from the company but obtained them through smuggling. SpaceX founder Elon Musk has stated this.
