With support from EBRD, Ukrnafta begins construction of 250-MW combined-cycle power plant

The Ukrnafta state-owned oil and gas production company is beginning construction of a modern gas-fired cogeneration power plant. 

The company has said this in a statement, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

The new CHPP plant will use combined-cycle gas and steam turbine technology with a gross electrical capacity of approximately 250 MW. 

This project will ensure an uninterrupted supply of electricity and district heating to the local community at the plant’s location and to the Unified Energy System of Ukraine—both in normal operation and when providing ancillary services to the power grid.

Currently, in close cooperation with the EBRD, the Ukrnafta JSC is conducting a second round of market consultations with potential manufacturers and suppliers of the necessary equipment. 

All procurements related to the construction of the new CHP plant comply with the EBRD’s procurement policies and rules. 

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Ukrnafta JSC and the UkrGasVydobuvannya JSC, which is part of the Naftogaz Group, jointly completed the drilling of a gas well at one of Ukrnafta’s fields; the well’s actual depth is 5,681 meters.
