Israel warns US of new possible Iranian attempt on Trump - WSJ

Israeli intelligence has provided the United States with new information indicating Iran's alleged plan to assassinate US President Donald Trump.

The Wall Street Journal reports this, citing informed sources.

According to the publication, the Israeli side has shared intelligence that indicates the preparation of a new plan to assassinate the American President.

As the WSJ notes, Iran has for years openly declared its intention to take revenge on Trump for the assassination of General Qasem Soleimani, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' Quds Force. He was killed in a US airstrike in 2020 during Trump's first term.

The Israeli embassy in Washington declined to comment, and Iran's mission to the United Nations did not respond to a request for comment.

Trump himself this week also said he was aware of the threats against him.

"They want to eliminate the leader of the United States - me. I'm on every list. I saw this morning - I'm on every list of theirs. And so far I've probably been a little lucky, but it may not last long," the President said.

According to The Wall Street Journal, during the funeral of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, participants in the ceremony chanted calls for Trump's death and unfurled a banner that read: "We will kill Trump."

As a reminder, law enforcement agencies were on high alert in the US capital after a shooting at a White House Correspondents' Association dinner, for which a man was arrested.
