NBU appoints Tokarchuk as director of Monetary Policy and Economic Analysis Department

Taras Tokarchuk has been appointed Director of the Monetary Policy and Economic Analysis Department of the National Bank from July 9, 2026.

This is stated in the NBU's message, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

His responsibilities will include, in particular:

- implementation of the monetary policy strategy and decisions on monetary policy instruments used by the National Bank;

- preparation of macroeconomic forecasts by main sectors, development and maintenance of a system of forecast models;

- analysis of state economic policy, as well as the development of the monetary, real, fiscal, external sectors and the international economy;

- organizational and informational and analytical support for the activities of the Monetary Policy Committee;

- organization and coordination of research work at the National Bank, coordination of fundamental and applied research in the field of monetary policy, macroeconomic development, modeling and forecasting methods.

The Department of Monetary Policy and Economic Analysis belongs to the "Monetary Stability" vertical, the general management of which is carried out by the Deputy Governor of the National Bank, Volodymyr Lepushynskyi.

Taras Tokarchuk began his career at the National Bank in February 2007 as an economist responsible for foreign exchange market analysis and forecasting in the Exchange Rate Policy Department of the Currency Regulation Department.

From March 2009 to January 2017, he worked as a leading and chief economist, head of the Balance of Payments Department of the General Economic Department and the Monetary Policy and Economic Analysis Department.

From January 2017, he was the Deputy Head of the Macroeconomic Modeling and Forecasting Department of the Monetary Policy and Economic Analysis Department, and from October 2024, he headed the Economic Analysis Department of this department.

Starting from April 24, 2026, he served as the Director of the Monetary Policy and Economic Analysis Department of the NBU.

Before working at the National Bank, he was a postgraduate student and worked as a research fellow at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.

Taras Tokarchuk graduated from the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy in 2003 with a degree in "Economic Theory", having received a full higher education. In 2008, he received a PhD in Economics with a degree in "Mathematical Methods, Models and Information Technologies in Economics".

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in April of this year, the Director of the Department of Monetary Policy and Economic Analysis of the National Bank, Mykhailo Rebryk, resigned.
