Poland has not yet made a final decision on transferring MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine, although Kyiv continues to insist on receiving these aircraft. The parties are currently discussing the possibility of an exchange, under which Ukraine is prepared to transfer drones to Poland.

Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz has stated this, according to the country’s Ministry of Defense.

According to the minister, the Polish side has already received an official request from Ukraine.

“This issue has not yet been resolved. We have received a request from the Ukrainian side stating that they remain interested, Kosiniak-Kamysz said.

He noted that Kyiv has presented Warsaw with its vision for potential cooperation. Specifically, Ukraine is prepared to supply Poland with drones over the next two years in exchange for Soviet-made fighter jets.

“They have presented their proposals regarding the transfer of drones to Poland over the next two years. So this possibility of an exchange is real, but it must be an exchange, not just a one-way transfer from Poland. We are being very cautious here, emphasized the defense minister.

Thus, Warsaw has confirmed that negotiations regarding the possible transfer of MiG-29s are ongoing, but no final decision on this matter has been made yet.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on June 30, Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz stated that Poland would not transfer MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine because Kyiv has not yet transferred drone technology to Warsaw.
