Zelenskyy after conversation with Trump stated about real prospect of ending war

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone conversation with US President Donald Trump. After the talks, the Ukrainian leader said that he sees a real prospect of ending the war, and US determination will be crucial for this.

The phone call was first reported by Axios journalist Barak Ravid, citing his own sources. Later, the information was confirmed by Ukrainian President's advisor Dmytro Lytvyn.

During the conversation, Zelenskyy congratulated Trump on US Independence Day and thanked Washington for its military and political support for Ukraine.

The President of Ukraine also reported that the parties discussed:

• the situation on the front;
• diplomatic efforts to end the war;
• further cooperation between Ukraine and the United States.

According to Zelenskyy, the interlocutors agreed to continue communication in person during the NATO summit in Ankara.

What is known about Trump's conversation with putin

The day before, on July 4, Donald Trump also had a telephone conversation with Kremlin leader vladimir putin. This was reported by russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, who is quoted by russian state agencies.

According to Ushakov, putin congratulated Trump on the 250th anniversary of US independence and stated about russia's alleged contribution to the formation of American statehood.

The Kremlin also claims that during the talks the presidents discussed:

• the war against Ukraine;
• the upcoming NATO summit in Turkey;
• possible diplomatic steps.

According to the russian side, Trump confirmed his readiness to contribute to the earliest possible cessation of hostilities and the search for a political settlement.

Yuri Ushakov also stated that Trump's representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are allegedly ready to continue mediation contacts and, if necessary, come to Moscow.

At the same time, putin, according to Ushakov, once again emphasized that russia insists on resolving the war on its own terms.
