Emergency power outages implemented in Kyiv and surrounding region

On the afternoon of July 3, emergency power outages were implemented in Kyiv and the Kyiv region. Customers who currently have electricity were urged to use it sparingly.

The website notes that Ukrenergo was forced to implement emergency power outages due to a significant increase in the load on the power grid.

“Such restrictions are imposed only in critical situations—outside of scheduled outages, without warning, and immediately,” the company explained.

DTEK urged users who currently have power to use electricity sparingly—this will help reduce the load on the power grid.

Ukrenergo explained that the outages are due to high energy consumption and equipment overload amid the heatwave.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, power facilities in Kyiv were damaged on the night of July 2, leaving some residents of the capital without power.

Ukrenergo also stated that on Tuesday, July 1, rolling blackouts would be in effect across all regions of Ukraine due to the difficult situation in the power grid. It was caused by a sharp increase in electricity consumption due to the hot weather.
