The Ministry of Defense, together with the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, is introducing a guaranteed monthly supply of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to military units. Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced this on his Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

“We are launching the first phase of the ‘Basic Level’ project—a minimum guaranteed level of monthly UAV supply to units,” he said.

Fedorov noted that one of the military’s key requests is for a more even and predictable supply of drones. Currently, the supply of drones and equipment among brigades remains uneven. This makes it more difficult for brigades to plan their work and combat operations. It is precisely for this reason that the Ministry of Defense, together with the General Staff, is launching the “Basic Level of Supply” initiative.

The first phase will include the most in-demand types of drones: FPV (radio- and fiber-optic-linked), Mavics, bombers, reconnaissance wings, and light middle-strike drones. The “Basic Level” will then be gradually expanded to include other categories of weapons and military equipment.

“Units will receive a defined allocation, which will allow them to plan their work and combat operations several months in advance. At the same time, manufacturers will have a predictable demand forecast for 6–12 months, which will help them scale up production, the minister noted.

According to Fedorov, units will be able to independently select the proposed UAVs via DOT-Chain, and the system will organize deliveries according to transparent rules. If the required type of drone is temporarily out of stock, the unit will receive another one with the same or similar specifications.

Fedorov noted that deliveries under the project will begin as early as July.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in June the Ministry of Defense announced that the vast majority of drones supplied to the Defense Forces by the Defense Procurement Agency and the State Operator for Non-Lethal Acquisition (DOT) are manufactured in Ukraine, and that currently, domestically produced UAVs account for 95% of defense procurement.
