MP Mykola Tyshchenko has been charged with new offenses by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO). This time, the politician is accused of extorting more than USD 1 million in bribes, money laundering, and falsifying data in his electronic declaration. It was reported by the press services of the NABU and the SAPO.

Law enforcement officials have not officially named the suspect, but according to MP Oleksii Honcharenko, it is Tyshchenko.

According to the investigation, in August 2023, the MP decided to profit from his public “fight against call centers.” He approached the person in charge of this business and proposed a deal: in exchange for USD 1 million, he promised to use his influence to create problems for competitors and guarantee immunity for “select” call centers. However, the lawmaker never managed to receive the money.

At the same time, investigators uncovered the laundering of UAH 12.6 million of dubious origin. The investigation established that Tyshchenko had drawn up a fictitious gift agreement with his ex-wife. An audit revealed that the woman had no legal income to support such a gift, and the actual transfer of cash took place only on paper. Subsequently, the MP officially included these millions in his financial disclosure statement.

Tyshchenko’s actions were charged under three articles of the Criminal Code: extortion, money laundering, and false declaration of assets. The pretrial investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement officials are identifying other possible participants in the scheme.

It was also reported that MP Tyshchenko sold a Mercedes for nearly a million more than he had paid for it in 2019.

He also confirmed his relationship with Andrii Yermak as godfathers, but refused to contribute to Yermak’s bail.
