In Ukraine, after many weeks of decline, prices for new crop cabbage jumped
In Ukraine, after many weeks of decline in prices for new crop cabbage, last week they began to rise.
This is stated in the report of the EastFruit project, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
According to producers, the main reason for the increase in prices in this segment was the seasonal factor, when the production of early varieties in farms has actually ended, and cabbage of later varieties has not yet gone on sale.
Thus, today, producers of white cabbage announce prices for their products in the range of UAH 12-20 per kilogram, which is on average 52% more expensive than at the end of the previous working week.
The reason for the increase in prices, according to farmers, was the reduction in supply on the market due to the off-season.
The season for harvesting early varieties of cabbage in farms is coming to an end, while producers have not yet started mass harvesting of medium and medium-late varieties, but the demand for cabbage remains relatively stable today, which, against the background of insufficient supply, also provokes an increase in prices in this segment.
It is noted that now the 2026 harvest cabbage on the Ukrainian market is already 20% more expensive on average than at the end of June last year.
However, market participants do not rule out that in the near future the downward price trend may resume on the market, as soon as producers massively begin harvesting medium-grade cabbage.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, prices for new harvest cabbage have been rapidly decreasing in Ukraine since mid-May.
