Fico says he is "constructive" in dialogue with Zelenskyy despite differences of opinion
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico is satisfied with the discussions with Ukraine, even despite differences in positions on a number of issues. He said this in a video message published on the X network, where he spoke about his recent meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the Armenian capital Yerevan.
According to the head of the Slovak government, during the meeting there was an open discussion both on common interests and on topics where the leaders' views differ.
"I am very glad that the dialogue between our countries continues, even if we do not share the same views on all issues," Fico stressed.
The Prime Minister assured that he is a strong supporter of dialogue, therefore he considers it wrong to avoid communication with the Ukrainian President. He clarified that during the conversation, the parties touched upon practical issues, in particular, preparations for the upcoming joint meeting of the governments of Slovakia and Ukraine.
"We also talked about the current situation, about the enlargement of the European Union as a whole. Our dialogue is developing into something constructive and meaningful. Personally, I am glad about this, although, as I said, we hold different views on many issues," the Slovak leader noted.
At the end, Robert Fico announced a new meeting with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, which is to take place next week in Gdansk as part of the conference on the restoration of Ukraine, scheduled for June 25-26.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Zelenskyy discussed Ukraine's European integration with Fico.
