Slides regarding US-backed "biolaboratories" in Ukraine released in US: National Intelligence Director does it
Tulsi Gabbard, Director of National Intelligence, has "declassified" information — amidst her impending resignation — that allegedly indicates long-standing US government funding of more than 120 "biolaboratories," including some in Ukraine.
This is indicated in a statement by Gabbard, published in a press release on the official website of the US National Intelligence.
The statement asserts that among such facilities conducting research on biological pathogens, particularly dangerous ones, are laboratories in Ukraine that may be “at risk of compromise due to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.”
Gabbard’s statement notes that US intelligence had previously warned of the likely storage of dangerous pathogens in one of the “US-funded biolab in Ukraine.”
On the “map,” Gabbard’s office indicated the incorrect location of Kyiv or the Kyiv Region and labeled one of the locations as “Cherniv.”
Bellingcat investigative journalist Christo Grozev stated that Gabbard “presented the Kremlin with yet one more information operation.”
Meanwhile, Financial Times journalist Christopher Miller has taken the opportunity to "perpetuate one of her [Gabbard] and Russia's favourite conspiracy theories".
It is worth noting that at the start of russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Gabbard had already claimed the existence of US-funded biological laboratories in Ukraine.
Among the “evidence” she cited was a Pentagon document on cooperation with the Ukrainian government in the field of safe detection and diagnosis of biological threats, as well as the reduction of risks associated with pathogens. However, the press release stated that since 2005, the US has supported Ukrainian laboratories, medical and veterinary facilities, and diagnostic sites as part of a biosafety program.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Gabbard announced that her resignation would take effect on June 30.
