There is no mechanism for deporting Ukrainians from EU due to conscription age - MP
Member of Parliament of Ukraine, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and Defense Yehor Chernev stated that the EU does not have a mechanism for deporting Ukrainian men solely due to conscription age. He stated this on the air of News.LIVE.
According to the MP, there is no "conscription age" among the reasons for deportation.
"There is a mechanism for deportation for specific reasons, in particular due to a criminal offense. Due to the fact that they are simply of conscription age and are Ukrainians by nationality, they cannot be deported," – Chernev said.
The MP also noted that this category of Ukrainians may be deprived of benefits or social benefits by the countries that have accepted them, but, according to the politician, this will not force Ukrainians to return home, but will only push them to look for work in the country of residence.
As is known, recently, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on Ukrainians to return and support the front. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, as of the end of May 2026, more than 8 million internally displaced persons from Ukraine are abroad.
