The first modular shelter designed to protect people from explosions, shock waves and shrapnel has appeared in the capital of Estonia, Tallinn. The pilot facility was installed in a public space of the city.

This is reported by the Estonian publication ERR.

The structure was made of reinforced concrete, which is used in Ukraine. The shelter is designed to protect people during explosions, as well as from shock waves and debris.

A feature of the structure is its modular design, which allows it to be quickly increased in size, moved and installed in other places.

The project has pilot status. After the tests, the city authorities will make a decision on the possible expansion of the network of such shelters.

At the end of May, companies from the Baltic countries approached Ukrainian defense manufacturers and civil defense specialists to discuss the purchase of shelters. Estonia was among the interested countries.

As a reminder, Estonia and Luxembourg do not support the possible termination of the granting of temporary protection status in the European Union to Ukrainian men of draft age.
