Polish Orlen wants to buy part of Ukrnafta gas stations
The Polish group Orlen wants to strengthen its presence in the Ukrainian market and is already negotiating a possible participation in Ukrnafta.
This is reported by Economic Pravda, citing a statement by the company's chairman Ireneusz Fonfara.
The report says that, according to him, Orlen is one of the main suppliers of fuel to Ukraine and wants to strengthen this position.
He emphasized that the Ukrainian market is very important for the group, in particular for the Mazeikiai refinery, which sells almost 18% of its products in Ukraine.
It is noted that the company has already begun negotiations and is participating in the process as one of the partners.
According to him, the possible involvement will depend on further negotiations with the Ukrainian side.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Ukrnafta is the largest gas station network in Ukraine by the number of stations, operating almost 700 complexes throughout the country.
This is a large state-owned oil and gas company that is engaged not only in the retail sale of fuel, but also in the production of oil and gas.
In April, the Ukrnafta gas station network became the leader in the retail market with a volume of about 120 million liters, OKKO took the second place, WOG - the third.
In early April, it was reported that the Ukrnafta gas station network would be replenished with 21 more gas stations in the Poltava and Kharkiv Regions and would grow to more than 700 complexes throughout the country.
On February 16, the CEO of the Polish state-owned energy company Orlen, Ireneusz Fonfara, reported that they plan to increase natural gas supplies to Ukraine in 2026 by more than 40% compared to last year to over 1 billion cubic meters.
In 2025, Orlen supplied Ukraine with about 0.7 billion cubic meters of gas.
50% + 1 share of the company belongs to NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine.
On November 5, 2022, the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine adopted a decision to transfer to the state a share of the company's corporate rights that belonged to private owners. This share is managed by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
