US explains Lavrov's statements about diplomats in Kyiv: "signs of panic" by Kremlin
A member of the US House of Representatives, Jim Himes, said that the threats of russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to foreign diplomats in Kyiv indicate the desperation of the russian authorities against the background of the situation on the front.
The Democratic congressman from the Intelligence Committee said this during a conversation with journalists in Kyiv, Radio Liberty reports.
Himes commented on Lavrov's statement, who called for the evacuation of foreign diplomats from the Ukrainian capital and threatened new strikes on Ukrainian military-industrial complex enterprises and "decision-making centers."
According to the American politician, russia will suffer heavy losses in the war, and Ukraine, in his opinion, will continue to regain territory.
"In the coming months, the Ukrainian military will continue to liberate territories at the cost of huge losses for russia. So such threats are a sign of desperation," Himes said.
He also added that Moscow's rhetoric demonstrates the Kremlin's readiness for war crimes.
Despite the russian federation's statements, the congressman stressed that he does not plan to give up trips to Ukraine and is already thinking about his next visit to Kyiv.
Separately, Himes noted that, despite the internal political disputes in the United States, American society continues to support Ukraine.
"I will return to Washington to make sure: Lavrov's threats will lead to the provision of additional resources to Ukraine," he concluded.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on May 25, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the aggressor country, russia, announced the start of systematic strikes on defense enterprises, so-called "decision-making centers" and command posts in Kyiv, which is why it called on foreigners to leave the capital, and residents of the capital to stay away from military and administrative infrastructure facilities.
