Kyiv introduces new award - title of "Honorary Defender of Kyiv" - Klitschko
Kyiv is introducing a new city honor—the title of "Honorary Defender of Kyiv." The capital's mayor, Vitali Klitschko, has announced this at the start of a Kyiv City Council meeting.
"On the eve of Kyiv Day, the Kyiv City Council will consider the introduction of a new honor from the capital—the title of 'Honorary Defender of the City of Kyiv.' This title will be awarded to Kyiv residents who are military personnel and who participated in the defense of state sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the strengthening of Ukraine’s defense capabilities and security during Russia’s full-scale aggression. For personal courage and selfless actions demonstrated in the defense of the city of Kyiv and for the safety of the capital’s community,” said Vitali Klitschko.
The mayor added that the award will take the form of a lapel pin featuring the symbol of Kyiv.
"Kyiv wants to properly recognize the special merits of our defenders," Klitschko emphasized.
