Number of Naftogaz employees killed in massive attack in early May risen to 4

The number of Naftogaz employees killed in a russian attack on gas workers and rescue workers that occurred on the night of May 4-5 in the Poltava Region has risen to four.

This is announced in a statement by the Naftogaz of Ukraine Group, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The statement said that 59-year-old Serhii Klymenko, a refrigeration plant operator who was seriously injured as a result of a targeted russian attack on gas workers and rescue workers on the night of May 4-5, died in the hospital.

Doctors fought for his life to the last.

Many operations were performed, but the injuries were incompatible with life.

Seven more Naftogaz employees are currently in the hospital.

On the night of May 4-5, russia fired three ballistic missiles at rescuers from the State Emergency Service and Naftogaz employees who had begun extinguishing the fire after the air raid alert was lifted.

That night, Oleksandr Kozin, Yurii Musienko, and Mykhailo Dub were killed.

As noted in the report, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the russians have killed 324 employees of the Naftogaz Group.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on the night of May 4-5, russian troops carried out a massive attack on the facilities of the Naftogaz Group, and gas production enterprises in the Poltava and Kharkiv regions came under attack.

During the day on May 3, russia attacked five infrastructure facilities of the Naftogaz Group in the Kharkiv and Sumy Regions.

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, russia has carried out 401 attacks on Naftogaz Group infrastructure, with a record number recorded in 2025: 229 attacks - more than in the previous three years combined.
