Debts of heating and utility companies to Naftogaz exceeded UAH 150 billion - Prime Minister Svyrydenko
In Ukraine, debts of heating and utility companies have grown rapidly, in particular from frontline regions. The Cabinet of Ministers stated that they are working on compensation mechanisms and are looking for additional financing.
This was reported by Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko in a post on the Telegram social network.
According to the head of government, over the past four years, debts of heating and utility companies to the Naftogaz group have more than doubled - from approximately UAH 60 billion to almost UAH 150 billion.
Svyrydenko noted that the problem also affects enterprises from frontline regions. Against the backdrop of a sharp increase in debt, the government has instructed to develop mechanisms to compensate for the difference in tariffs.
Currently, the Cabinet of Ministers is considering several possible sources of financing. Among them are funds from the state budget, assistance from the European Union and international partners, as well as dividends from other state-owned companies.
In addition, the situation in the balancing electricity market in Ukraine is deteriorating. According to the Ukrainian Solar Energy Association, the debt of market participants to Ukrenergo has already reached UAH 42 billion and is increasing by approximately UAH 1 billion every month.
In parallel, the financial obligations of Ukrenergo itself to generation are also growing - they have already exceeded UAH 30 billion.
