Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov arrived in the United States to meet with representatives of the US President. This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Thursday, May 7.

Zelenskyy noted that Umerov has scheduled meetings with representatives of Donald Trump. According to him, the discussions will focus on three key issues.

"First, the humanitarian track. We hope that we will be able to carry out a new stage of the release of prisoners. The second is the intensification of the diplomatic process. We are in constant communication with the American side and know about the appropriate communication of partners with the russian side. We are working to help bring about a decent peace and guarantee security. We see that even under the regime of silence, the russian side, unfortunately, does not show constructiveness," the President of Ukraine said.

In addition, there are several security instructions for the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council regarding cooperation with America, Zelenskyy stressed. Reuters also reported on Umerov's visit, the reason for which was that the peace talks "have reached a dead end."

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on April 20, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that there was no need to make a special sensation out of the arrival of American representatives Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff to Ukraine, since the Ukrainian side is constantly in contact with them and awaits the outcome of the negotiations.
