Since the beginning of 2026, the russian economy has suffered enormous losses due to Ukrainian strikes on oil and gas infrastructure. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to him, the aggressor state has lost at least USD 7 billion since the beginning of the year directly from our targeted sanctions against the russian oil industry and refining, and these losses are the result of the strikes, forced downtime of plants, and significant delays in fuel shipments.

The President emphasized that, following the results of April, Ukrainian "long-range sanctions" reached a new level in intensity and distance. The main goal of the operations was not only the physical destruction of targets, but also the maximum blocking of their activities.

"It is important that not only the object itself is reached, as defined by the combat mission, but also the downtime of the object is increased or at least a significant reduction in its operation," Zelenskyy emphasized.

Zelenskyy also announced the further scaling of the operation of Ukrainian long-range systems, noting that new solutions are already being prepared. The systematic reduction of russia's oil revenues remains a key task, as it directly affects the aggressor's ability to finance the war. The effectiveness of such a strategy is also confirmed by international data, according to which russia's oil revenues have already fallen to a minimum over the past four months.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on the night of May 1 in the city of Tuapse, Krasnodar Krai of the russian federation, a fire broke out on the territory of a marine terminal after the threat of a drone attack was announced.

On April 20, residents of Tuapse complained about "oil rain" that fell on the city amid a large-scale fire following a drone attack. On April 24, russian media reported that Tuapse was facing a disruption to its tourist season due to pollution of the sea and coast as a result of a drone attack on a refinery.
