Khamenei suffers serious injuries to his legs and face in US strike, but is conscious. Journalists find out condition of Iranian leader
Iran's new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, who was seriously injured in an airstrike on Tehran, is participating in decision-making via audio conference and "remains mentally clear."
This was reported by Reuters, citing sources close to Khamenei.
According to three sources close to Khamenei, 56-year-old Mojtaba Khamenei suffered serious injuries to his face and one or both legs in an airstrike that killed his father. The sources said he was recovering.
Reuters, citing sources close to the leader, reported that Khamenei is participating in meetings with senior officials remotely, in particular, participating in discussions on war issues and negotiations with the United States.
The interlocutors also stated that the leader's public appearance is possible only after his health stabilizes and taking into account security conditions.
Earlier, the British newspaper The Times reported that Khamenei is unconscious in a hospital in the city of Qom and cannot participate in decision-making.
Mojtaba Khamenei escaped death during a strike on his residence on February 28 because he went out into the garden a few minutes before the missiles hit, according to an audio recording of a speech by an official in his office.
Earlier, US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said that Iran's new leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, was wounded and probably crippled.
