Defense Forces neutralize 99 enemy drones, hits recorded in 11 locations - Air Force
Russian troops launched another large-scale raid on Ukrainian cities, using more than a hundred drones of various types, starting from the evening of April 8, the enemy launched 119 strike UAVs, including both traditional Shaheds and drones of the Gerbera and Italmas types. This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The geography of launches was extremely wide: from russian Bryansk and Oryol to occupied Crimea and Donetsk.
Thanks to the coordinated work of aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, mobile fire groups and electronic warfare units, it was possible to neutralize 99 enemy targets in the north, south and east of the country. Despite the high efficiency of air defense, 16 strike drones were recorded hitting 11 locations, and debris from downed aircraft was documented falling in four other territories.
"The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. According to preliminary data, as of 08:00 am on Thursday, 99 drones were shot down or suppressed," the Air Force command noted.
Despite the fact that the main strike was repelled, as of the morning of April 9, the sky defense operation was ongoing, as several isolated enemy drones remained in the airspace. The situation is under full control of air defense units, which continue to monitor the remnants of air targets.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in March, interceptor drones shot down more than 33,000 UAVs. This is twice as many as in February.
