Ministry of Culture announced start of selection of cultural projects for state funding "Tysiachovesna" with budget of UAH 4 billion

The Ministry of Culture has announced the start of the selection of cultural projects for state funding under the "Tysiachovesna" program with a budget of UAH 4 billion. This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Culture, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

It is noted that the task of the initiative is to fill the information space with Ukrainian stories, strengthen the cultural resilience of society, as well as create an alternative to russian content, support culture during the war and form a Ukrainian information environment for the growth and development of young people.

This is an initiative of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, which is being implemented by the Ministry of Culture and the President's Office.

Juridical persons regardless of their organizational and legal form (creative unions, public organizations, budgetary institutions), individual entrepreneurs and other business entities registered in Ukraine can take part in the initiative.

Topics for creating a cultural product: Ukrainian history, Ukraine's security and defense forces, life during the war, universal, preservation and development of the Ukrainian language, prominent figures, folklore heritage, stolen art, socially important professions, conscious citizens, the future of Ukraine, barrier-free access, mental health, natural heritage.

Full state coverage (up to 100%) is provided for author's and animation products, debuts and content for children.

Partial funding (up to 80%) is available for other types of cultural product, provided that the producer provides at least 20% of their own or borrowed funds.

Equal co-financing of 50/50 will be available for fiction and non-fiction series (excluding copyright and animation).

Projects in seven areas will be supported: fiction films and series, non-fiction (documentary) films and series, animated films and series, films and series for children's audience, contemporary music, performing arts, visual arts, audiovisual shows and videos for social networks.

The application period for the competition will last from April 3 to May 28.

Approximate funding by direction:

feature films and TV series - UAH 1.9 billion;

non-feature (documentary) films and TV series - UAH 240 million;

animated films and TV series, films and TV series for children's audiences - UAH 490 million;

contemporary music - UAH 300 million;

performing arts - UAH 400 million;

visual arts - UAH 300 million;

audiovisual shows and videos for social networks - UAH 260 million.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the state budget for 2026 provides for an increase in funding for culture by 45% and strengthening national identity projects, in particular, UAH 4 billion has been allocated for President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's program "1000 Hours of Ukrainian Content".
