Defense Forces hit russian combat icebreaker in Leningrad Oblast - General Staff
During a joint operation of the Defense Forces of Ukraine in the Leningrad Oblast of the aggressor country of russia on the night of March 25, a combat icebreaker was hit at the Vyborg Shipbuilding Plant. This is stated in a message from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to preliminary information, this is the patrol icebreaker "Purga" of project 23550, which was planned to operate as part of the Border Service of the FSB of the russian federation.
The General Staff said that such vessels perform the tasks of both an icebreaker and a warship.
"The Defense Forces of Ukraine will continue to hit important enemy targets both in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and on the territory of the russian federation until the armed aggression against Ukraine is completely stopped," the General Staff emphasized.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on the night of March 25, a fire broke out at one of the country's largest oil pumping terminals in the port of Ust-Luga in the Leningrad Oblast of the aggressor country, the russian federation, after a drone attack. This is a seaport on the Baltic Sea, located approximately 1,000 km from Ukraine, which is used to ship oil products to foreign markets.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, this terminal is one of the key logistics hubs of the russian federation for the export of energy resources, in particular, oil under sanctions, with the involvement of the so-called "shadow fleet".
In addition, on the night of March 23, a large-scale drone attack was announced in the Leningrad Oblast of russia, which resulted in a fire in the oil port of Primorsk. The port of Primorsk is the largest russian oil terminal in the Baltic Sea and a key point in the Baltic pipeline system.
