The port of Ust-Luga in the Leningrad Oblast of the aggressor russia has resumed loading oil after being temporarily shut down by a Ukrainian drone attack. The neighboring port of Primorsk remains closed due to the consequences of the latest attack.
Reuters reported this, citing its own sources on Monday, March 23.
Ust-Luga and Primorsk suspended operations last Sunday, March 22, due to Ukrainian drone attacks, unnamed sources told the agency.
On the night of March 23, Ukrainian drones attacked the port of Primorsk. The Leningrad Oblast Governor Aleksander Drozdenko confirmed the attack. He also said that several fuel tanks caught fire in the port. He did not mention anything about the suspension of oil exports.
Reuters writes that the suspension of the Primorsk port deepens the global oil shortage caused by the consequences of the Israeli-US war against Iran.
According to the agency, in 2025, russian companies exported 32.9 million tons of oil products through the port of Ust-Luga, and 16.8 million tons through Primorsk.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the day before, russian authorities and media reported that on the night of March 22-23, a large-scale fire broke out in the port of Primorsk on the Baltic Sea after a drone attack.
A few hours later, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed that the Ukrainian Defense Forces hit the Transneft - Port Primorsk oil terminal in the port of Primorsk. According to preliminary information, the attack damaged a fleet of oil storage tanks.
