Cabinet to finance equipment of Kyiv high-rise buildings with backup power sources - Prime Minister Svyrydenko
The state will allocate funds for equipping residential high-rise buildings in Kyiv with backup power sources in case of blackouts.
This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko.
The government has approved state funding for the purchase and installation of batteries, inverters and generators to ensure the operation of elevators and engineering systems, as well as lighting of common areas in the capital's high-rise buildings.
At the same time, residents must take care of the operation of these facilities: purchase of fuel, maintenance and repairs. The decision to participate in the project must be made by the co-owners of apartment buildings.
The resolution also simplifies the permitting procedures for construction and land acquisition necessary for the implementation of the program. And the Kyiv City State Administration must form a list of buildings that meet the program's criteria within 30 days and determine the need for financing. After that, the Cabinet of Ministers will adopt a separate decision on the allocation of funds.
Yulia Svyrydenko clarified that the program for Kyiv is being implemented as a pilot project to study the feasibility and possibilities of its expansion to other cities.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Cabinet of Ministers instructed Kyiv to finalize the sustainability plan by April, providing for the development of distributed heating.
