Slovakia terminates emergency electricity supply agreement with Ukraine from May - Ukrenergo
The Slovak system operator, SEPS, sent Ukrenergo a letter on the unilateral termination of the Agreement on Mutual Emergency Assistance in the Energy Sector. This was announced in the statement of NEC Ukrenergo on Facebook on Monday, March 16.
Slovakia warned of the unilateral termination of emergency electricity assistance. The reasons for the early termination of the agreement were not named by the operator company SEPS, Ukrenergo noted.
"After a number of public statements that we saw in February and March, NEC Ukrenergo received from the Slovak system operator, SEPS, an official letter on the unilateral termination of the Agreement on Mutual Emergency Assistance. The final termination of the contractual terms will take place from May this year," the statement said.
There will be no changes for Ukrainian consumers, as Ukrenergo has rarely attracted assistance from Slovakia. The last time this happened was in January of this year. Also, the termination of the contract will not affect the import of electricity from Slovakia to Ukraine, which is carried out without restrictions. For its part, Ukrenergo has never allowed any violations of the contractual terms with SEPS, the company emphasized.
