Unknown persons attack and try to kidnap female judge in Dnipro

Police have opened two criminal proceedings over an attack on a judge that left a woman with a severe head injury and hospitalized. It was reported by the press service of the Police of the Dnipropetrovsk Region and the Council of Judges of Ukraine on Sunday, March 15.

The police said that the incident occurred on March 13 at about 5 p.m. in the Sobornyi District of Dnipro. The judge was attacked by unknown persons when she got out of her car, after which they fled in a car. The woman is currently in hospital with a severe head injury.

"At the same time, I would like to note that this is perhaps the first such brazen and brutal attack on a judge during the entire period of the full-scale war that is going on in Ukraine due to Russian aggression. Until yesterday, judges were subjected to pressure and threats and even died because of the aggressor's armed actions and while defending their country at the front," said Vitalii Salikhov, Chairman of the Council of Judges of Ukraine.

Information about an attempted illegal imprisonment and threats or violence against a judge was registered in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, journalist Olha Khudetska reported threats against her after publishing the material on the non-transparent use of funds of the volunteer medical battalion "Hospitallers."
