Four crew members killed in US tanker plane crash in Iraq

A US tanker plane crashed over Iraq, killing four of its six crew members. The incident was not caused by friendly or enemy fire.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported this.

On the evening of March 12, a US KC-135 tanker plane crashed in western Iraq. The US Central Command confirmed the death of four of the six crew members on board the plane.

Rescue operations are currently underway, and the circumstances of the incident are being investigated.

"However, the loss of the plane was not caused by enemy or friendly fire," CENTCOM added.

It is noted that the names of the servicemen are not being disclosed until 24 hours after the next of kin are notified.

Recall, earlier the American military reported the loss of a Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker tanker aircraft, which crashed in western Iraq during Operation Epic Fury. Two aircraft were involved in the incident. One of the aircraft crashed in western Iraq, and the second landed safely.

Earlier, on March 1, the United States lost three F-15E Strike Eagle fighters. CENTCOM then stated that they were mistakenly shot down by Kuwaiti air defense systems.
