Iranian drone causes fire at Ruwais oil complex in Abu Dhabi: plant temporarily shuts down
The state-owned oil company of Abu Dhabi ADNOC has suspended operations at the Ruwais oil refinery after a fire caused by an Iranian drone strike.
This was reported by Reuters, citing sources.
The fire broke out on the territory of the complex after a drone strike, which was the reason for the temporary closure of the oil refinery.
According to a source familiar with the situation, the decision to stop work was made as a precautionary measure. At the same time, other operations on the territory of the complex continue as usual.
The Abu Dhabi authorities said that they were responding to the fire at the facility. According to official data, there were no injuries.
What is known about the oil refinery in the UAE, which caught fire due to an Iranian drone
The Ruwais complex is a key oil refining center in the emirate. ADNOC's facilities at this location are capable of processing up to 922,000 barrels of oil per day. The territory also hosts large chemical, fertilizer, and industrial gas plants.
As a reminder, due to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and restrictions on air travel, shipments of rice, meat, and coffee have not reached the United Arab Emirates, although supermarket shelves remain full.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian teams of security and counter-drone experts will visit Qatar, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia this week.
