The Cabinet of Ministers is implementing a set of measures to stabilize the fuel market. Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko announced this on her Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

Svyrydenko noted that the current situation on the fuel market has primarily external causes, while fuel prices in Ukraine remain lower than in a number of neighboring European countries.

"To stabilize the market, the Government is implementing a set of measures. In particular, until the situation stabilizes, Ukrnafta will sell fuel with a minimum trade margin, forming a benchmark for a fair price in the market in the current conditions. At the same time, we are working with other fuel market operators and count on their responsible and balanced pricing policy," she said.

Svyrydenko also instructed the Antimonopoly Committee and the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection to strengthen control over the pricing policy of operators to prevent unjustified markups and market manipulation by individual market participants.

In addition, she instructed First Vice Prime Minister and Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal, together with the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Development, the Ministry of Economy and Naftogaz, to pay special attention to the supply of fuel to key areas.

"Meeting the needs of the defense sector remains an absolute priority. At the same time, it is important to guarantee the availability of fuel and price stability for farmers, as well as sufficient resources and price stability for public transport," the Prime Minister said.

The government is also working with international partners to increase fuel imports to the Ukrainian market.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Antimonopoly Committee has sent to the participants of the light oil market the requirements to provide information necessary to establish the reasons for the rise in fuel prices in gas stations.

Retail prices at Ukrainian gas stations continue to grow.
