New details of Midas case: prosecution has no evidence of direct conversations between Halushchenko and defendants

The prosecution has no evidence of conversations that would record the communication of former Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko with other members of the criminal organization. The prosecutor stated this during the court hearing.

"We confirm the fact that there are no direct conversations where Halushchenko's communication with other members of the criminal organization would be recorded, where the facts of Halushchenko's commission of crimes are directly discussed," the prosecutor stated during the court hearing.

We will remind you that earlier it became known that the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) was unable to properly substantiate the suspicion of former Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko. This is, in particular, a confusion with the call signs that the prosecution used to refer to Halushchenko in the case materials.

According to the lawyers, at the start of the pre-trial investigation in November 2025, the media reported that Halushchenko went by the nickname "Professor", not "Syhizmund". However, later the NABU changed this nickname without explanation or procedural justification.

"Moreover, the law enforcement officers were so sure that this was presented as an established fact. But later, the NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) employees reported to the entire country that they were a little mistaken. That the Professor is another person who really has the academic title of professor. That is, there was, to put it mildly, a correction of the version. And after that, Herman Valeriyovych strangely ceased to be a Professor and became Syhizmund. Without explanation and without procedural justification for such a metamorphosis," the lawyer said.
