Russia accuses Ukraine of attacking its gas tanker in the Mediterranean
The russian federation has officially recognized the attack on its gas tanker Arctic Metagaz that took place on March 3 in the Mediterranean Sea. Moscow said that the vessel, which was heading from Murmansk, was allegedly attacked by Ukrainian unmanned boats from the coast of Libya. It was reported by the russian Ministry of Transport.
The russian side called the incident an "act of international terrorism" and accused the EU countries of "condoning criminal acts."
According to the aggressor country, the crew of 30 russians was rescued by the joint efforts of Maltese and russian services. At the same time, the russian federation emphasizes the violation of international maritime law, despite the fact that the ship itself is under strict international sanctions from the United States, the EU and the United Kingdom.
At the same time, Ukrainian blogger and advisor to the Minister of Defense Serhii Sternenko published exclusive photos of the attacked vessel. According to him, the tanker was critically damaged - a serious hole in the engine room.
"Exclusive. The Russian gas tanker attacked yesterday by unknown drones in the Mediterranean Sea has a serious hole in the engine room and is beyond repair. Of course, you have never donated to this project. So continue NOT to donate," he said.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, a sanctioned russian tanker Arctic Metagaz, which was transporting liquefied gas, caught fire in the Mediterranean Sea.
On March 1, Belgium detained and confiscated a russian tanker of the "shadow fleet."
As a reminder, on January 29, the oil tanker Grinch was grounded in the French port of Marseille-Fos, which is suspected of belonging to the so-called "shadow fleet" of the russian federation.
