US will provide insurance for ships in Strait of Hormuz. If necessary, they will be accompanied by Navy - Trump
The United States will provide special insurance for civilian vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz. If necessary, the US Navy will provide escort for tankers.
US President Donald Trump wrote about this on his Truth Social page on Tuesday, March 3
Trump said he had instructed the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) to provide "at a very reasonable price" risk insurance and financial security guarantees for all shipping passing through the Persian Gulf. This service will be available to all shipping companies.
The US President added that, if necessary, the US Navy will begin to escort tankers through the Strait of Hormuz.
"No matter what, the United States will ensure the free flow of energy to the world. The United States' economic and military might is the greatest on earth - more actions to come," Trump wrote.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on Tuesday, March 3, Bloomberg wrote, that Saudi Arabia's oil company Saudi Aramco is considering redirecting most of its oil cargo to a port on the Red Sea due to the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.
Also on March 3, the media wrote, that China had privately called on the Iranian leadership to stop attacks on tankers in the Strait of Hormuz and on liquefied natural gas production facilities in Qatar.
