Ukraine increases electricity imports by 41% to record 1.3 million MWh in February 2026

In February, compared to January, Ukraine increased electricity imports by 41% to a record 1.26 million MWh.

This is reported by the ExPro publication, the Ukrainian News agency informs.

The report says that Hungary continues to account for the largest share in the import structure, 49%. Also, compared to January 2026, electricity imports from Hungary increased the most - by almost 54%, and Slovakia's share was 18%.

It is noted that despite political forecasts, electricity imports from Hungary and Slovakia in February only increased to record levels for the month

Compared to February 2025, electricity imports increased 5 times.

There is no electricity export in February 2026.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in January, compared to December, Ukraine increased electricity imports by 40% to a record monthly import volume of more than 894,000 MWh.

In January 2026, Ukraine did NOT export electricity.
