Pensions to increase from March: government approves 12.1% indexation

From March 1, 2026, Ukraine will index pensions and insurance payments by 12.1%. The Cabinet of Ministers adopted the corresponding decision. The increase will affect most pensioners, but for some citizens the amount of payments will not change.

According to the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine, this year's indexation percentage is 3.1% higher than in 2025. The calculation is made using the formula: 50% - the inflation rate for the previous year (8% in 2025), another 50% - the increase in the average salary for the last three years (16.1%).

Pensioners of the general state pension insurance system, military pensioners, persons with disabilities as a result of the Chornobyl disaster, recipients of pensions for special merits, former employees of local government bodies, as well as victims of industrial accidents will receive an increase. In addition, in 2026, pensions assigned in 2021-2025, which were not previously subject to such recalculation, will be indexed for the first time.

The indexation will apply only to the basic pension amount - excluding supplements and allowances. The minimum increase will be UAH 100, the maximum – UAH 2,595.

Guaranteed minimum payments will also increase. For pensioners aged 80 and over with the necessary insurance experience, the minimum pension will increase from UAH 3,758 to UAH 4,213. For persons over 70 years of age with full service — from UAH 3,613 to UAH 4,050. For pensioners under 70 years of age with full service — from UAH 3,323 to UAH 3,725, and for those with less insurance service — from UAH 3,038 to UAH 3,406. Minimum payments for persons with disabilities as a result of war and combatants will also be revised.

At the same time, indexation will not affect those who receive a pension at the subsistence level for persons who have lost their ability to work (UAH 2,595), as well as maximum payments (UAH 25,950 — ten subsistence minimums). These amounts have already been revised from January 1, 2026 after the increase in the subsistence minimum.
