President Zelenskyy announces meetings with European partners next week
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced meetings with European partners next week.
In a traditional video address on Saturday, the Head of State emphasized the continuation of work to achieve peace.
"We continue to work every day specifically so that the next round of negotiations can bring results for Ukraine, bring results for peace. Ukraine will definitely do everything necessary for this and will definitely not be an obstacle to peace," Zelenskyy said.
He noted that "last time in Geneva, the American side clearly saw that it was the russians who were the reason for the lack of truly significant results - and the next meeting must be made meaningful, and this is possible."
Zelenskyy spoke today [February 21] with Rustem Umerov about "some aspects of preparing for the negotiations."
"I am grateful to everyone who is really ready to help and support us - who supports our state. And my meetings with European partners next week are already planned. We will coordinate in detail so that Europe is in all processes and only becomes stronger," the President said.
He also instructed Umerov to "work more with our friends in the Middle East and Turkey, so that they feel involved there and can help more."
The President noted that "many people in the world support Ukraine" and "often it is Ukrainian proposals that are at the heart of partners' sanctions."
"We very much expect, in particular, that the next EU sanctions package will take into account what is needed to put real pressure on russia for this war - to really limit russia's ability to fight," Zelenskyy said.
According to him, this includes a ban on maritime services for vessels used by russia.
"It is worth coming to Europe for this. And this is something that could become a significant incentive from Europe for russia to finally move from war to diplomacy, to real diplomacy. The war must be ended," the President said.
