Two men who killed man for fun will be tried in Kyiv

Investigators of the Main Department of the National Police in Kyiv have completed a pre-trial investigation into the fatal beating of a 53-year-old man in the Dniprovskyi District of the capital and sent an indictment to court. The Kyiv police has reported this on their page on Facebook.

What is known about the murder on Kharkivske Highway?

The incident occurred in October 2025. The police received a report about the discovery of a man's body with traces of a beating on the Kharkivske Highway. The man died before law enforcement officers arrived.

The investigation revealed that two local residents aged 27 and 28 were drinking alcohol. When they ran out of alcohol, they went to the store and tore off license plates from cars parked along the roadway.

"Later, the attackers noticed an unfamiliar man walking down the street. One of the perpetrators hit him on the head with a license plate torn from another car. When the victim fell to the asphalt, both attackers began to kick him numerous times. The 53-year-old man died at the scene from his injuries," the police said.

Law enforcement officers have established the whereabouts of the suspects and detained them.

What punishment does the accused face?

Investigators notified the detained men of suspicion under Paragraphs 7 and 12 of Part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code - premeditated murder committed for hooligan motives by a group of persons. The sanction of the article provides for punishment up to life imprisonment

The indictment along with the criminal case file has now been sent to court. Both defendants have been detained as a measure of restraint.
