Solotvyno checkpoint introduces daily restrictions for cars starting February 16: how to travel to Romania
Starting from February 16, 2026, traffic on the Ukrainian-Romanian border will be temporarily restricted through the Solotvyno-Sighetu Marmației checkpoint. The reason is the reconstruction of the bridge over the Tysa River.
The changes were reported by the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
When the restrictions will be in effect?
Due to the emergency condition of the bridge, the traffic of cars and trucks will be suspended according to the following schedule:
- from Monday to Friday;
- from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m;
- approximately for 47 days.
During this seven-hour period, vehicles will not be cleared. Drivers are advised to plan to cross the border either before 9 a.m. or after 4 p.m.
Who is not affected by the restrictions?
Pedestrians can cross the border without any changes - the bridge is open for them around the clock
On weekends, i.e. on Saturday and Sunday, the checkpoint will operate as usual without daytime breaks.
Alternative routes
Those who do not want to wait for the completion of repair works or cannot adjust to the new schedule are advised to use other checkpoints:
- Diakove - Halmeu - for cars and trucks in the Zakarpattia Region;
- Porubne - Siret - one of the largest checkpoints in the Chernivtsi Region.
Border guards urge drivers to take into account the changes when planning trips to Romania to avoid queues and delays.
We remind you that on October 12, the European Union started implementing the new biometric control system (EES).
