Millionaire businessman Mazepa in Mercedes runs over pedestrian to death in Zhytomyr Region

Businessman Ihor Mazepa ran over a pedestrian to death on the Kyiv-Chop highway in the Zhytomyr Region. The Zhytomyr Region's police has reported this, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

The accident occurred on February 9 at about 7:30 p.m. on the 204th kilometer of the Kyiv-Chop highway, near the village of Kamianyi Maidan, Zviahel District.

It has been preliminarily established that the driver of the Mercedes-Benz, a 49-year-old Kyiv resident, was moving in the direction of Zhytomyr.

On an unlit section of the road, he hit a 60-year-old resident of the community who was crossing the roadway. As a result of the accident, the pedestrian died on the way to the hospital

According to the results of preliminary examination, the driver of the car was sober.

Investigators of the Zhytomyr Region Police Department launched a pre-trial investigation under Part 2 of Art. 286 (Violation of the rules of road safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. All causes and circumstances of the incident are being established.

The police did not name the driver, but according to our sources, it was Ihor Mazepa.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, a well-known Ukrainian businessman, head of the Concorde Capital investment company, Ihor Mazepa said that he was involved in a traffic accident that resulted in a person being injured.
