Russians strike at railway infrastructure in Chernihiv and Sumy Regions - Kuleba
The aggressor state of russia struck at the railway infrastructure of the Chernihiv and Sumy Regions. A number of damages were recorded, and one railroad worker was wounded.
Oleksii Kuleba, Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction of Ukraine, Minister of Development of Communities and Territories, has announced this.
"Russia continues targeted attacks on civilian railroad infrastructure. Currently, the main focus of attacks is the North of Ukraine: Chernihiv and Sumy Regions," the statement said.
In particular, at Konotop station, an enemy UAV hit a locomotive that was supposed to join a passenger train. Near the Tereshchenska station in the Sumy Region, the track was damaged, and traffic was temporarily restricted for repair.
In addition, a drone hit a company car used by railroad workers to repair a section of track. One worker was injured and taken to the hospital with shrapnel injuries. The rest of the crew was safely evacuated.
Meanwhile, a diesel train caught fire in the Chernihiv Region, at the Snovsk station, and the fire was quickly extinguished.
Reconstruction work is underway everywhere, and train traffic is uninterrupted.
Rescuers additionally reported that an electric train caught fire in the Konotop district as a result of a UAV hitting the territory of the railway station. Rescuers quickly extinguished the fire.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, meanwhile, as a result of the night shelling of Shakhtarske, nine people are being treated in hospitals. The most serious condition is that of a 57-year-old woman who suffered more than 80% of her body burns; she was taken to a regional medical facility for specialized treatment.
