White House wants war in Ukraine to end by June and will put pressure - Zelenskyy explains why

The United States is proposing that the parties end russia's war against Ukraine by the beginning of summer and may exert diplomatic pressure in accordance with this schedule.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this during a conversation with journalists.

According to the Head of State, the American side is talking about the desire to end the war by approximately June and is working on forming a clear schedule for the negotiation process.

"The Americans are proposing that the parties end the war by the beginning of this summer and will probably put pressure on the parties precisely according to this schedule," Zelenskyy noted.

He added that the US position may also be influenced by domestic political factors, in particular, the upcoming electoral processes and the work of Congress.

The President emphasized that he had not received signals about a possible US withdrawal from the negotiation process if the war is not ended within the specified time frame.

"I didn't get that from the negotiating team. Of course, it would be desirable that the Americans didn't leave," he said.

In his opinion, the presence of the United States in the negotiation process is important for all parties.

Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine has long proposed creating a clear step-by-step plan - a Sequence Plan, which would determine the actions of the parties and the timeframe for implementing the agreements.

"We want everyone to understand what the parties are going for and by what deadline. We really want to end the war and guarantee security," the President emphasized.

The President also reported that the United States allows for the possibility of synchronous signing of key agreements, including security agreements.

"The American side said that one of the possibilities is for all agreements to be signed at approximately the same time," Zelenskyy noted.
