General Alekseev, wounded in moscow, promised Azovstal defenders normal conditions of detention
In 2022, Lieutenant General of the army of the aggressor country of the russian federation Vladimir Alekseev, who was wounded in moscow, represented the russian side in negotiations with the defenders of Azovstal in the now-occupied Mariupol, Donetsk Region. He promised the Ukrainian military normal conditions in captivity.
The commander of the 1st Azov Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine, Colonel Denys "Redis" Prokopenko said this today, February 6.
According to Prokopenko, in May 2022, Alekseev was a senior representative of the russian side in negotiations with Azovstal's defenders.
"Alekseev promised that the Russians would comply with the Geneva Convention relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War and guaranteed normal conditions of detention for our prisoners. And it was his signature that stood under the relevant document signed then in Mariupol," Prokopenko wrote.
The Azov commander emphasized that the russian general's words were worthless. Once captured, Ukrainian soldiers were tortured, starved and lacked medical care. In their turn, Azovstal's defenders showed humanity back in Mariupol and handed over three captured occupants to the russians, who were provided with medical care, food and water by the Ukrainian military.
Prokopenko also reminded that according to the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Alekseev is responsible for preparing data for strikes on civilian targets in Ukraine.
"Even if Alekseev survives this time, he will not sleep peacefully. And one day the case will be brought to an end," Prokopenko summarized.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, today, February 6, in moscow an attempt was made on the deputy chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the russian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Vladimir Alekseev. An unknown person shot him several times in the back. The general survived and was hospitalized.
Alekseev is a former officer of the russian Federal Security Service. He was one of the key figures in the events of 2014 in the east of Ukraine. Terrorist and international criminal Igor Girkin claimed that since 2014, Alekseev had been coordinating the actions of the Wagner private military company Wagner in Ukraine.
Recall that moscow called the attempted assassination of General Alekseev an attempt by Ukraine to disrupt the negotiation process.
