Four out of five Ukrainians do not believe in quick end to war - poll
Only 20% of Ukrainians believe that the war will end soon, while almost two-thirds believe that the war will last until 2027 or longer. This is according to the results of a survey conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS).
Respondents were asked when they thought the war might end, with four options.
Only 4% of respondents chose the option of ending the war in the next few weeks. Another 16% believe that the end of the war should be expected in the first half of 2026.
Another 18% of respondents said that the war will end no earlier than in the second half of 2026. Less optimistic were 43% of respondents, who said that the war would end in 2027 or later.
Another 19% of respondents could not answer the question
Compared to December 2025, when KIIS conducted a similar survey, the share of those who believe in the end of the war after 2027 has increased.
The survey was conducted from January 23 to 29 by CATI telephone interviews based on a random sample of mobile phones. The survey involved 1003 Ukrainian citizens aged 18 and older.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, at the end of December 2025, a survey was conducted in Ukraine, which revealed that that Ukrainians are in favor of holding elections as soon as possible after a possible ceasefire.
